Hello WAAS Families!

It is hard to believe that today is the first day of the second half of our school year! WOW!  Where did the time go?  Report cards will be issued on Friday, January 22.

I hope that your family is planning to attend our Family Fun Night this Friday evening from 5:30-7:30 pm at WAAS.   Sponsored by the BOT and organized by our own Toni Kirby, this fun, free, family event is a  celebration of success of our Annual Fall Fundraiser.  This is what you and your family have to look forward to:

15 UNCW student volunteers for our  event (so parents and teachers can enjoy)
A karaoke setup with two microphones
                             A fortune teller
                             Pizzas, *hotdogs and beverages
                             Bingo and prizes
                             Face and nail painting
4-5 Minute to Win It games
At least 18 cakes for the CAKEWALK

*I understand Mr. Adams might be cooking the hotdogs. We hope to see everyone there!

Make up Pictures will be held on Thursday morning.  If your child was absent or needed a retake, then please have your child plan accordingly.

On the days when the temperatures are low (such as today), the students will have inside recess and inside afternoon dismissal.

Please have your child check our Lost and Found.  We have many jackets, lunch boxes and water bottles without names  that need to be claimed.

Cape Fear Academy has invited WAAS families (Grades 8-12) and teachers to attend a free presentation on the evening of January 25 by bestselling author Michael Thompson as he addresses the challenges of the college admissions process.  The presentation will be at 7:00 pm, and it will be held in the Fine Arts Center.

CFA is also hosting a VIP Visitor’s Day on Feb. 15 for rising 9th graders.
