Hello WAAS Families!
For the past five years, our middle school students have had the opportunity to go on an overnight field trip for a team building/adventure experience. This year our students will return to Camp Kanuga in Hendersonville, NC for a three day, two night Mountain Trail Outdoor School experience. The dates are Sept. 12-14, 2016.
For our planning purposes, it is imperative that you sign your student up at the link below if they plan to attend. We would appreciate your sign-up by July 30, 2016. If you are interested in chaperoning, please indicate this in the comments section – male chaperones are definitely a need. Chaperones may need to drive separately, as seats on the bus are limited this year. We appreciate your prompt response.

The cost of the trip has not yet been determined. We will try to keep the total cost to below $400.00, if possible. The price per student is determined by how many sign up at the link above.
This year, students will participate in canoeing with orienteering, high ropes course, natural rock climbing, outdoor living skills course, night hike and a square/line dancing evening event.
Students will be staying in male or female cabins with adult chaperones. Electronic devices are not allowed while at the site; however, they will be allowed to use them (with headphones) on the bus. Students can always use a chaperone’s phone if there is a need.
This safe, well supervised adventure is intended to take students out of their comfort zone and expose them to team building and outdoor experiences they can’t get in a classroom. They will set goals for themselves, and we will work to help them reach their goals.
Once the details are finalized, you will receive more specific information. Then, you will be asked to secure your child’s spot with a deposit. A packing list, itinerary, and other important information will be provided to you well in advance.

We are proud to offer this experience to our students again this year. I hope that all middle school students will participate!
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any further questions! We will share more information soon.
