A huge congratulations is in order for our MathCounts team who won their regional competition at Trask Middle School this past Saturday in very impressive fashion! We are so proud of this team who has been so focused in their practices this year, and also represented WAAS so well on Saturday in both their achievement and effort. WAAS also had the largest team at the event, competing against many larger schools in our area. Kudos to Mr. Simon and the entire team!
WAAS had five students place in the top 10 in the team round, and an exciting showing in the countdown round. In the team round, Takoda Lac (7th Grade) finished 2nd, Bentley Burton (8th Grade) finished 3rd, Harrison Lacy (8th Grade) finished 4th, David You (6th Grade) finished 8th and Blake Torok (8th Grade) finished 9th. In the countdown round, Bentley finished 2nd, Takoda finished 3rd, Harrison finished 4th, David finished 5th and Blake finished 8th. David also had a very impressive run of head to head victories in the countdown round, wowing the crowd!
Next up for our MathCounts team is the State competition on Friday, March 14th. Way to go MathCounts, keep it up!
