Congratulations to 8th Grade students Liesl Rivenbark, Ben Robinson, Myra Shanker, and Perry Tennant who competed in the Regional National History Day event on Saturday, March 14th at the New Hanover County Government Center. Due to renovations this year at Cape Fear Museum, the event was held on the weekend rather than on a school day as usual. The theme of the competition this year was “Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.”
Myra placed first in the Individual Documentary category and Ben & Perry placed first in the Group Documentary category. Both documentaries will advance to the state National History Day competition on Saturday, May 2nd at NC State University. We are very proud of you all, and all of our 8th Grade students who completed projects to showcase at the school level this year. This project provides students with experience in historical research, writing, and synthesis. Way to go Owls!
