We are very proud to announce our 2025 WAAS Azalea Festival Writing Contest Winners! 6th Grader Mira Hu won 1st Place in the Essay Division with her essay “The Magic of Wilmington’s Spring”. 6th Grader Kayla Stewart won first place in the Poetry Division with her poem “The Spring’s Gifts”. 6th Grade Bodan Escaravage and 7th Grader Ira Satyajit both received Honorable Mention designation for their essays “The Immense Gifts of Spring in Wilmington” and “Walking Through Spring”, respectively. Their essays, along with other local winners, were chosen from a pool of 82 essays and 98 poems submitted. They will be recognized on Tuesday, February 25th, with a reception and ceremony at Bluewater Grill. Congratulations!
