Our School Counselor – Mrs. Stephanie Goodwin
My name is Stephanie Goodwin, and I am very excited to continue in my fourth year at WAAS as school counselor. I grew up in a rural community outside of Frankfort, Indiana, and played three sports throughout high school (volleyball, basketball, and softball). I earned two degrees from Purdue University in 1998, a BS in Management with a minor in Human Resources and a BA in Psychology. I earned an MA in Counseling Psychology, School track, from Ball State University in 2004.
I worked as a high school counselor when I lived in Indiana and upon moving to Wilmington, as an elementary school counselor at Malpass Corner in Pender County and at Sunset Park in NHCS.
While living in Lafayette, Indiana and working as a high school counselor, I met and married my husband, Dan. We were married in July 2008 and moved to Wilmington later that year. We have 3 children, Sophie (a 9th grader at Ashley High School), Daxton (a 6th grader here at WAAS), and Ella (a 5th grader at Codington). Sophie runs cross country, plays ECNL soccer and Rec volleyball; Dax keeps busy with Science Olympiad and several clubs at WAAS as well as Rec soccer and basketball; and Ella plays travel soccer and Rec basketball. We also have 2 dogs that we rescued, Calvin, a White German Shepherd/Labrador mix and Jackson, a German Shepherd. In between getting my children to all their activities, walking the dogs, and maintaining our 1.5 acre property, I like to work out & exercise, play board games, solve jigsaw puzzles, and read.
