Congratulations to our WAAS students for their outstanding art work and special recognition and honors in the NC Azalea Festival Children’s Art Contest!
All 70 WAAS students participated in the 2016 Azalea Festival Children’s Art contest, and there were many outstanding submissions. We have such a wealth of talent at our school, and are very proud of every one of their efforts.
In the Middle School Division, Brooke Sanderford placed Second out of 91 entries. She is invited to ride a float in the Azalea Festival Parade. She will also be awarded a tropy from WAAS. Congratulations Brooke! 
In addition, seven out of the eighteen top entires from the middle schools were crafted by these WAAS students: Sam Lee, Mary Wells, Elliot Wells, Yasmin Azizi, Keira Braithwaite, Emma Johnson and Yates Kirby. They will receive a certificate from WAAS.Congratulations Middle School Students!
In the Elementary Division, there were 804 entries. Two out of the top twenty-six entries were designed by two WAAS elementary students: Hugo Warshauer and Daniel Johnson. They will receive a certificate from WAAS. Congratulations Hugo and Daniel!
These students’ art work will be on display at Hannah Block Community Arts Center in April.
