Our Social Studies Teacher – Ms. Anna Cubbage
Born in Wilmington and raised in Swansboro, Ms. Cubbage grew up with a love for history which was nurtured by the rich history of NC and her parents, both educators. While writing, reading, and history have always played an integral role in her life, it wasn’t until her sophomore year of high school that she felt drawn to the teaching profession. She studied history and secondary education at UNCW where she was also a North Carolina Teaching Fellow.
Ms. Cubbage believes that history allows us the opportunity to learn more about ourselves as we learn more about others- both past and present. As we seek and recognize the importance of many perspectives, we can reflect and better understand our current world to seek solutions and celebrate accomplishments.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Cubbage enjoys music, film photography, and gaining as much information as she can from books, podcasts, and conversations. She also loves being an aunt to her niece, Izella Katherine.
Ms. Cubbage is excited and appreciative for the opportunity to join the positive and rigorous environment at WAAS. She looks forward to a stellar year!
